The De Valle Foundation formally inaugurated the ART facilities, a new art space that will feature creations by artists from Europe and Latin America.
The new art gallery, located at José Amado Soler No. 37 on the corner of Malaquías in the Serrallés neighborhood, opened its doors to the public with a contemporary exhibition by Italian artist and muralist 2501. The collection, entitled “Hidden City,” consists of a total of 17 abstract pieces in white, black, and gold painted on canvas, glass, ceramics, aluminum engravings, murals, as well as installations and performances.
Edward De Valle II, president of the De Valle Foundation and curator of this exhibition, said: “I believe that this art gallery will become a platform to begin promoting the visual arts, not only in the Dominican Republic but also around the world. In addition, our idea is to connect Dominican visual art with the rest of the Americas and the world so that the country can compete with important galleries on the American continent.”
