The News: Cocktail party held for artist Miriam Calzada

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This past May 15, the “15 DE MAYO” cocktail reception by Dominican artist Miriam Calzada was held at the “ART GALLERY” venue, sponsored by the brand QUINT COLLECTION HOLLYWOOD & JQ GROUP. The event was hosted by Mr. Edward De Valle alongside the renowned Dominican artist.

“Miriam’s work is something I had never witnessed before in the Dominican Republic. She has a deep passion for nature, as well as great respect for it. This connection with the environment motivated our friends at QUINT Collection Hollywood to take part in this event, as this oceanfront project is surrounded by mangroves and exotic animals from a national reserve—outstanding features of this beautiful development,” stated Mr. Edward De Valle.

The Dominican artist shared insight into this fresh and exquisite exhibition titled “15 de Mayo”, which will be open to the public for two weeks beginning May 15:

“Immerse yourself in a reality beyond your screen.”

“From the most remote valley to the highest mountain, silent and unnoticed, they both stir and echo in the ears of those who need them most. Clouds cleanse and heal; they have a powerful function in nature and, as if that weren’t enough, they’ve entertained us since childhood with their shapes, reflections, and sweetness… And the rain always returns.

Water runs through the valleys until it reaches the sea, where it finally pours out, and from there, once again, evaporates to form our protagonists… and the rain always returns.

The supreme simplicity of the clouds’ composition draws me in; I don’t just see and contemplate them—I have grown fond of them.

Such special droplets of water suspended in the atmosphere.

I celebrate the extraordinary balance… water always reaches the earth.”

Mrs. Marianne de Tolentino, inspired by this collection, offers her reflections:

“In the lyrical sky of an everlasting blue, the clouds take on fantastic and surreal contours. Strange suggestions of unknown creatures—chubby, smiling, cotton-like, filamentous, floating, shifting—their consistency, shapes, and luminosity place them more as protective entities of a mysterious universe than threatening or stormy forces. And thus, Miriam Calzada’s lens captures unusual and fascinating variations.”
